Jim Knowles is a retired New York high school teacher, with previous management work experience in the auto dealership industry.
He is familiar with many auto manufacturer safety rating comparison features, to include: Front-Side-Knee mounted airbags and Advanced Airbag Systems (AAS), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Face Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Smart Stop Technology (SST), and side-view mirror Blind-spot Monitor Technology (BMT), Child Restraint Technology – Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH), 3-Point Occupant Seatbelts with pre-tensioners/force limiters, Whiplash-Injury-Lessening Safety Seats (WIL), Crumple Zone Technology (CZT).
He also emphasizes the importance of: maintaining proper tire pressure/tread ware and the newest “run flat” tire technology, child safety seat guidelines and passenger seat belt requirements “Click it or Ticket”, cellphone talking/texting driver requirements, yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks, safely entering/exiting roundabouts, golf cart/bicycle right-of-way, confidentially reporting unsafe drivers to HSMV Medical Advisory Board, and also simple defensive driving techniques you can use while driving to help counteract many driving errors, and aggressive behaviors from others that we encounter over our roadways every day.
